PAINTING THE INVISIBLE
As all energy is released as heat, viewing a subject through a thermal imaging camera reveals the difference in temperature when two human beings touch one another. In a fascinating meeting with physicist Helen Czerski, Christian observed that when a person removes their hand from another person’s arm, the handprint will remain due to the heat and energy that this gesture has generated. Taking this to an aesthetic level he extrapolated that every temperature has its own unique colour which represents the heat of connection.
“There is a fundamental law in physics that tells us whenever something has a temperature it omits light in a very specific colour that we cannot see. Every colour corresponds to a temperature, so the universe is giving us a thermometer that we can’t see but the thermal camera can.”
