James Golding and Mike Snelle (aka The Connor Brothers) create vintage style figurative images which encourage us to challenge our assumptions and preconceptions, and as a result to perhaps see the world a little differently.
The Connor Brothers’ backstory is now well known in the UK.
They began their career masquerading as innocent twins who had emerged traumatised from a Californian cult and were struggling to make sense of the world through their art. Their fictional persona was designed to protect their real personal histories from the public gaze but it captured the imagination of the art world. Over time the pair’s success fuelled their desire to break cover and reveal their true identities. They did however retain their famous pseudonym which serves to remind us to question our assumptions about other people and ourselves.
